Systems Alliance Auckland Class Cruiser (Remastered)

A fast, and armored The Auckland class response cruiser is the Systems Alliance attempt to solve doctrine problems highlighted most famously by the Skyllian Blitz.

Following years of rapid expansion and colonial establishment primarily in the Skyllian Verge the SA is faced with the protection of extensive numbers of Colonies. Standard SA policy has been to use light garrisons for reconnaissance work and the deterrent of an overwhelming response from SA Fleets stationed at strategic relays. The Skyllian Blitz revealed that whilst militarily sound this strategy could be exploited on the political stage.

The Auckland is the SA answer. Allowing existing doctrine to remain whilst providing a suitable rapid response vessel.

The vessel was out together from the older stripped out hulks of obsolete heavy cruisers. Designed for older, larger equipment they were fitted with modern reactor and drive core tech. As well as over sized frigate engines. The obsolete spinals were retained and the majority of the broadside armament swapped out, with the exception of ventral accelerators to facilitate fire support.

The space gained from utilizing modern miniaturized equipment and undersized broadside arrays in the wings left space for an entire Batallion of SA Marines as well as the hanger space to deploy 75% of the Battalion in a single drop with supporting Gunships.

The finished product is a heavily armored cruiser with the response time and profile of a modern frigate capable of dropping overwhelming force before it even establishes a planetary orbit.
